Impact Rx named Mark Degatano the company’s vice president, business development, key client initiatives. In his new role Degatano will lead programs at the client level that are designed to extend the value and action ability of Impact Rx’s offerings. Impact Rx measures the impact of pharmaceutical promotion on the behavior of the nation’s highest prescribing physicians.

Almost half of all US physicians going online for professional purposes are visiting Wikipedia for health and medical information, in particular, for condition information, according to a Manhattan Research study. Meredith Abreu Ressi, VP of research at Manhattan Research, said that the number of physicians turning to Wikipedia has doubled in the past year and that docs rely heavily on search engines.

Over 70% of the physicians surveyed for SDI’s ePromotion Annual Study 2008 said pharma’s electronic promotional activities (or ePromotion) were equal or superior to traditional face-to-face encounters. Heather Alba, senior manager, promotional audits at SDI said that through ePromotion, physicians have more time to review product information and review disease state information on their own time—at night or on weekends.
