1. About one-fifth of publicly funded clinical trials for cancer treatments do not enroll enough patients to ensure solid results, a new study found. This is often due to poor study design, including the geographic location of the trial. Moving trial sites to smaller towns is one way to address that problem. (Stat News)

2. Following its decision to fire CEO Martin Shkreli, KaloBios Pharmaceuticals filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Nasdaq recently delisted the drugmaker. Kalobios had hired Shkreli in November to lead the company. (Reuters)

3. A new campaign called “This Bike has MS” uses a bicycle to show what it's like to have multiple sclerosis. The campaign was developed by Grey Australia for the MS Melbourne Cycle, a charity bike ride. (Adweek)

4. Of the 41 new drugs approved by the FDA in 2015, as of mid-December, 19 were orphan drugs. (Pharma Guy)

5. Sanofi's dengue fever vaccine received approval in Brazil. Mexico was the first country to approve the vaccine, which is called Dengvaxia. (WSJ)
