Precision Value & Health, a 2022 MM+M Agency 100 honoree, snapped up healthcare communications agency Makara Health, the company announced Wednesday.

The acquisition is part of Precision Value’s broader goal of expanding its presence in Europe.

The company said in a media release that the move will offer its pharma clients in Europe “culturally aligned programs” as well as “tailored senior support” for business objectives.

“Broadening the reach of our services in Europe is one of Precision Value & Health’s focused strategies in order to extend our offering to more organizations and healthcare clinicians around the world,” Doug Fulling, president of Precision Value & Health, said in a statement. “Ensuring scientific rigor and accuracy for those responsible for the care of patients is a business imperative for Precision, and Makara’s proven track record beautifully complements our offerings.”

Louise Sharp, founder and CEO at Makara Health, noted the acquisition will help ensure Makara will “continue to offer clients fresh and robust thinking from an experienced and talented team.”

“We are excited to say that we have found this with Precision Value & Health, a company that shares our approach and our belief in the scientific story as the foundation of every pharmaceutical brand,” Sharp said.

Makara will be integrated into Precision Value and will work closely with PRECISIONscientia, a med comms arm within the company that focuses on translating the science behind medicine. Makara will bring its expertise in development, medical and patient education and brand promotion to the team.

In 2021, Precision Value added new assignments from clients including Biogen, Galderma, Gilead Sciences and Alexion Pharmaceuticals, according to MM+M’s Agency 100. The company saw revenue grow by 10% within that year, from $61.5 in 2020 to $67.6 million in 2021. Staff size also increased to 321 employees.

Precision Value joins other marketing agencies that are finding opportunities on another continent.

In the fall, Havas Health & You named Paul Kinsella as chief creative officer of HH&Y Europe days after Grey Health & Wellness unveiled plans to expand operations to EMEA, with Morten V. Frederiksen tapped to serve as president.
