Global Health Marketing & Communications (GHMC) has incorporated Mexico-based strategic consulting agency Improve Comunicaciones into its network, the firm announced Wednesday.

The move will help GHMC expand its network of independent healthcare agencies into Latin America, where many other organizations have invested additional resources in recent months.

With its focus on Mexico, Improve Comunicaciones will help GHMC reach what it considers to be a critical healthcare market there.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Improve Comunicaciones to our GHMC family, allowing global and regional clients and unparalleled level of insight and execution in the critically important Mexican market,” said Tim Goddard, president of GHMC, in a statement. “Improve Comunicaciones’ skill and commitment to delivering innovative and impactful solutions for clients further strengthens our position as the strongest healthcare agency in the Latin America region.”

Improve will serve as GHMC’s exclusive partner in Mexico and connect clients to GHMC’s global network. GHMC already has partner locations in Latin America — including in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia.

The new Mexico base, it said, will help the organization break into the healthcare market there and build a foundation to serve Mexico’s growing economy, which is expected to be the seventh-largest in the world by 2050.

“By joining forces with GHMC, we are now able to offer a more diverse set of healthcare marketing and communications services and capabilities that allow us to further expand our impact, offering clients access to a global network of experts,” said Helena Rodriguez Navarro, managing partner at Improve Comunicaciones, in a statement.

The move comes a little over a year after GHMC officially rebranded from its previous name of GlobalHealthPR. The rebrand was meant to reflect the network’s evolution from a collection of solely PR agencies, to agencies across medical communications, advertising, clinical trial patient recruitment and other areas.

“We felt that the name GlobalHealthPR reflected the network’s capabilities in the past but not who we are today,” noted Goddard in a previous interview with PRWeek US.

Since then, GHMC has been working to expand its presence internationally.

In February, it brought in Colombia-based consulting firm Monodual Libera Ideas as a new member. Similar to its goal in Mexico, GHMC is banking on Monodual to help it reach populations in Colombia, which has a pharma sector expected to grow 7% year over year.
