More than a third of physicians (35%) have received industry subsidies for attending professional meetings or CME, according to The New England Journal of Medicine.

Results of a 2003-2004 survey (52% doctor response rate) also show practice setting played a key role in physician–industry relationships: because hospitals and large clinics are more likely to provide medical info through CME, physicians at these facilities may feel less dependent on industry as the source of medical info than docs in solo practice.
